The technical bit -
PLEASE NOTE THIS COLLECTABLE DONALD DUCK LAMP DOES NOT EMIT A BRIGHT LIGHT DUE TO ITS DESIGN.
In the 1950s, the first decade of mass television, there was a common belief that watching TV in low light could damage one's eyesight. But early televisions, with their dull luminescence, were best viewed in the dark. So the TV lamp was invented to add a little light and dispel people’s fears. These lamps gave off very little light as is the case with this example. When found this lamp was complete with its broken bakelite fitting that bolted through the ceramic at the rear.
A base has been created using a 1930’s lamp base in conjunction with a contemporary e14 small Edison screw bulb holder and push button switch. This enables a choice of bulbs and the figure sits over the top.
