This vintage african table lamp is a great example of 1950s home decor. This wooden sculpted gazelle with its carved elephant Safari shade is very unusual and will make a great accent light in a vintage setting or in a lounge with a more modern contemporary look as an eye catching statement piece.
The technical bit-
This rare lamp was purchased in Africa in the 1950’s by a British worker on the African railroads. The base is Teak and black African hard wood carved into the form of a gazelle which supports a wooden plinth. Attached to the plinth is a beautifully carved hollow bone shade probably bovine in origin.
There is a small area of repair to the rear top edge where the original bone pieces have been sympathetically glued and filled.
Fully rewired but retaining the original Bakelite bulb holder.
Measurements 6”wide x 3” deep x 11” high overall
15cm wide x 7cm deep x 28cm high overall
