This extremely rare pair of mid century modern teak and cardboard lamps are probably British in origin dating from the 1960’s. They were possibly custom made as a pair for an art exhibition for innovative items using natural products, particularly cardboard by the likes of GREGORY VAN PELT & FRANK GEHREY. Both have teak bases and mounts and have an extremely heavy metal core running through the centre The effect on the column was ground breaking in its day resembling sedimentary rock and created with thousands of different cardboard discs threaded onto a tube before being tightly compressed forming a solid column. The card has survived in incredible condition and the teak bases and mounts have been cleaned and waxed. Rewired on contemporary 2 core cable and fitted with matching original b22 switched bulb holders from the same period.
