This extremely rare mid century modern teak and cardboard lamp is probably British in origin dating from the 1960’s. This was possibly custom made for an art exhibition for innovative items using natural products, particularly cardboard by the likes of GREGORY VAN PELT & FRANK GEHREY. Having a teak base, it is mounted on an extremely heavy metal core running through the centre. The effect on the column was ground breaking in its day resembling sedimentary rock and created with thousands of different cardboard discs threaded onto a tube before being tightly compressed forming a solid column. The card has survived in incredible condition and the teak base has been cleaned and waxed. Rewired on contemporary 2 core cable and fitted with an original b22 switched bulb holder from the same period.
